Rawhide and Sharehouse Goods Collaborate to Collect Used Media Donations

Two Wisconsin based philanthropic organizations work together to help Milwaukee troubled youth.

NEW LONDON, WI – Wisconsin-based non-profits Rawhide and Sharehouse Goods formed a cooperative partnership to collect used media donations to benefit Wisconsin at-risk youth. Sharehouse Goods accepts donations of books, CDs, and DVDs, and in turn, sells the items on Amazon.com and eBay.com to generate income to support Rawhide and Milwaukee area troubled youth and families.

Sharehouse Goods approached Rawhide, interested in partnering by placing donation bins at five Milwaukee locations to increase donations. Rawhide has placed those bins at the Heiser Ford in Glendale, Heiser Chevrolet Cadillac in West Bend, Heiser Toyota in Milwaukee, Heiser Chevrolet in West Allis, and Sharehouse Goods in Milwaukee, and donations of CDs, books, and DVDs may be dropped off at any of these locations. The proceeds from used media deposited in these bins will benefit Rawhide. The two philanthropic organizations are cobranding the donation bins in order to leverage their combined credibility and increase donations. Rawhide also allows donors to donate a car Milwaukee, which funds the ranch and allows Rawhide to grow and expand programming for troubled youth and families in Wisconsin.

A sixth Rawhide donation bin is located at Rawhide’s main location in New London and will be accepting contributions of books, CDs and DVDs at every Rawhide Fish Fry, held the third Friday of each month May through October. Rawhide’s traditional fish dinner does not require a ticket or reservation, and all proceeds from the fish fries are used for tuition assistance for at-risk youth.

In order to offer a full continuum of prevention-based programs and services for youth and families, Rawhide relies on donations from generous donors. This ranges from monetary donations, CDs/Books/DVDs, volunteering, as well as vehicle and boat donations. If you’re looking to donate a car Milwaukee, Rawhide accepts cars, boats, motorcycles, or anything with a motor or wheels.

Located outside of New London, Wisconsin, Rawhide Boys Ranch, founded by Bart and Cherry Starr and John and Jan Gillespie, provides a faith-based, family-centered, residential environment as an alternative to juvenile corrections for court-referred and at-risk young men. In addition, Rawhide provides services to youth and their families through community-based programs, such as outpatient counseling, adventure based summer camps and intensive family weekends. http://www.rawhide.org/donations/donate-a-car-milwaukee/.
